Ms. Brooks is an award-winning real estate agent well-known in her community for her expertise in the real estate market. After over 20 years with Gate City Real Estate, she joined Silvercreek Realty Group in 2020, specializing in residential real estate, particularly for first-time home buyers. Silvercreek Realty Group has been notably recognized as Idaho's number-one real estate company since 2014. The firm is headquartered in Meridian, Idaho, and specializes in residential and commercial real estate.
Aside from her distinguished tenure in real estate, Ms. Brooks has become the successful founder of a nonprofit animal welfare organization, Josie's and Greta's Animal Food Pantry, which she launched in November 2022 to raise money and collect food for all types of animals and household pets for the All About the Animals Coalition. Using the commission she earned from one of her clients, Ms. Brooks purchased a 20-foot shipping container, customized its exterior, and installed shelves on the inside. This trailer serves as the nonprofit's home base to store and deliver food for needy animals throughout the Pocatello, Idaho, area. Donations are graciously accepted onsite, which is located at the Phil Meador Subaru in Pocatello.
Notably, Ms. Brooks serves as the All About the Animals Coalition president. She is preparing to begin its annual spay and neuter clinics for the summer of 2023 with the assistance of a grant. A relatively new organization, the Coalition collaborates with numerous other nonprofits besides hers, including the Bannock Feral Friends and the Snake River Animal Shelter. As a leader in her community, Ms. Brooks has also been active with various other charitable organizations, namely the Pocatello Animal Shelter as a former volunteer. She has also been an active member of the Idaho Writer's League.
Looking toward the future, Ms. Brooks aspires to make Josie's and Greta'a Animal Food Pantry more viable and have it serve as a separate entity that is self-sustaining. She also hopes to secure a grant to house an animal shelter on a nearby reservation.
Besides her full-time commitments in the real estate sector, Ms. Brooks spent several years teaching English Composition at her alma mater, Idaho State University, in Pocatello. She also found success being published in literary journals and small publications. One of her poems was notably chosen for the Ford Swetnam Poetry Prize.
Ms. Brooks graduated as the valedictorian of her high school class. She subsequently studied at Idaho State University, through which she earned a bachelor's degree in English with an emphasis in creative writing, with honors, in 2007 and a master's degree in 2010. She taught Freshman Composition to several hundred college students.
Ms. Brooks has received recognition for her dedication to the real estate industry with a Rookie of the Year and MVP Award from Gate City Real Estate. She has also been recognized with the Rotary Club Vocational Achievement Award. Her nonprofit efforts as the founder of Josie's and Greta's Animal Food Pantry were also recognized in an article by the Idaho State Journal in November 2022, shortly after establishing the organization.
