MCALLEN, TX, April 06, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Emma Lemus-Miller, PhD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Leveraging more than three decades of excellence as an educator for organizational leadership and administration, Dr. Lemus-Miller has earned distinction as the program chair for the organizational leadership program with South Texas College. Since 2017, she has focused her efforts on ensuring her students have the resources and information they need to succeed. Additionally, she volunteers with the McAllen Chamber of Commerce as an ambassador and as part of the planning committee for Texas Women in Higher Education.
Prior to her current role, Dr. Lemus-Miller began her career as an adjunct faculty member with Texas Southmost College in 1985 and was a computer specialist for Rovan's Bakery, Restaurant and BBQ in 1994. She then served as a computer user services specialist for the University of Texas at Brownsville in 1996 until taking a role as an adjunct faculty member there in 1997. She continued her career with the university as a help desk and customer support supervisor, an assistant director of scheduling and course inventory and director of the office of space management, among other roles. In 2013, she became the SAGANet.org Mentoring Program coordinator for the Blue Marble Space Institute of Science until returning to University of Texas at Brownsville in 2014 as a lecturer of management.
Following this time, Dr. Lemus-Miller served as the director of academic affairs for the University of Phoenix in 2014 and became an academic dean for Brightwood College in 2016. Later that year, she was an adjunct faculty member of the leadership department at National American University as well as an adjunct professor in the organizational leadership department for South Texas College. In 2017, Dr. Lemus-Miller was hired as program chair for South Texas College and later promoted to the assistant dean of bachelor programs by South Texas College in 2017 and served in this role for three years.
Outside of her primary career efforts, Dr. Lemus-Miller is a valued member of the Texas Distance Learning Association and the National Association of Professional Women. She also serves as a board member for the Competency-Based Education Network and Executive board for Leadership McAllen. Having previously served on the advisory board for the Blue Marble Space Institute of Science, she is a chapter advisor for the National Society of Leadership and Success. Additionally, she has also served as a peer reviewer for the ITC Emerald Best International Dissertation reviewer for the Academy of Management.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Dr. Lemus-Miller earned an Associate of Applied Science from Texas State Technical College Harlingen in 1983.Follwing this achievement, she attained a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences in 2001 and a Master of Business Administration in 2005, both from the University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College. She subsequently gained a Doctor of Philosophy in applied management and decision sciences, leadership and organizational change from Walden University in 2013. Within the coming years, Dr. Lemus-Miller intends to become the president of a community college or university.
