BLANCO, TX, April 10, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Donald Van Eynde has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Leveraging more than five decades of excellence, Dr. Van Eynde earned distinction in the U.S. Army as a military leader and at Trinity University where he served as a professor of management until his retirement in 2016, whereupon he was granted emeritus status. At Trinity, Dr. Van Eynde focused his efforts on teaching leadership, organizational behavior, and human resource management.
Prior to starting his career in education, Dr. Van Eynde served honorably as an Army Infantry Officer, commanding units from platoon to battalion. In addition, he served as the assistant Army attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Portugal from 1967 to 1970 and functioned as the military advisor to the U.S. Ambassador at the U.S. mission to the United Nations from 1979 to 1980. Dr. Van Eynde also served two tours of duty in Vietnam. In recognition of his combat performance with U.S. Infantry and Vietnamese Ranger units, he was honored with a Silver Star, five Bronze Stars, an Air Medal, the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm, the Vietnamese Cross of Valor with Silver Star, and the Vietnamese Ranger Badge.
Following his service in the U.S. Army, Dr. Van Eynde joined the faculty at Trinity University in 1984 and served as a professor of management, the chair of the department of business administration, the chair of the Faculty Senate, and the chair of the Crisis Management Team.
Outside of his primary career endeavors, he availed himself as the president of the board of directors for the Ranches of Brushy Top Landowners Association and as the charter president of the Blanco County Rotary Club.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Van Eynde was distinguished as an Evans Scholar and earned a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from Michigan State University in 1959. He went on to attain a Master of Arts in Communications and Human Relations from the University of Kansas in 1973. Following this accomplishment, he obtained both a Master of Arts and a Doctor of Philosophy in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University in 1983.
Dr. Van Eynde's primary areas of expertise include the management of change, leadership education, and the development of executive teams. From 2004 to 2006 Don worked with NASA's Space Shuttle Mission Management Team on issues related to decision making and group dynamics.
Among his cherished achievements, Dr. Van Eynde is most proud to have exerted a positive impact on the lives of so many young students, many of whom have gone on to achieve high levels of prominence. For his own part, he has received numerous accolades, including being honored by the faculty for "exemplary leadership and selfless dedication in making Trinity a better place to work as we teach and learn," received the prestigious Dr. & Mrs. Z.T. Scott Fellowship for Outstanding Achievement in Teaching and Advising, was awarded the Trinity University Award for Distinguished Service to the University and the Community, and was named Professor of the Year by Beta Gamma Sigma, the business fraternity. In 2022 the Business Advisory Council provided generous support to name the new Chapman Hall Dean's Suite lobby in Don's honor.
