WEST ALLIS, WI, April 13, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Michael Honisch has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Backed by years of professional experience, Mr. Honisch presently excels as a Senior Mechanical Engineer for Eaton Corporation's Mission Systems Division. Within the Aerospace Group, he substantiates the structural integrity of mission-critical components and products for life support, space propulsion and weapons carriage systems. Alongside his work with Eaton Corporation, Mr. Honisch formed Rugger Tuff Engineering, LLC, where he is a structural engineering consultant and subject matter expert. He is also the technical publications project manager for INNIO's Waukesha Engine.

During the early stages of his career, Mr. Honisch gained valuable expertise in various engineering and management positions with such companies as Briggs & Stratton, Rexnord Corporation, Tecumseh Products Company and the Waukesha Engine Division of Dresser Industries, Inc. Mr. Honisch has subsequently developed a unique combination of engineering talents in structural engineering, materials science, failure analysis and Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE)/Finite Element Analysis (FEA).

Mr. Honisch has also taught fundamental Engineering Mechanics courses at both the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's Waukesha, Wisconsin campus and School of Continuing Education, including Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam Refresher courses.

Throughout his career, Mr. Honisch has dedicated himself to promoting science and engineering to students, volunteering as a judge for both regional and national high school Rube Goldberg Machine Contests and an advisor for Marquette University High School/Divine Savior Holy Angels High School FIRST Robotics Team 1732. He has represented the engineering profession during elementary, middle and high school career days through STEM Forward. He is also a resolute advocate of empowering women, including through Briggs & Stratton Corporation's POWER (Providing Opportunities for Women through Engagement and Relationships) Committee.

As a life-long student of science and space flight enthusiast, it was only natural for Mr. Honisch to pursue a career in engineering. To that end, he obtained both a Bachelor of Science Degree in Materials Engineering and a Master of Science Degree in Engineering Mechanics, each from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he also played loose head prop during the inaugural season of the Panther Rugby Football Club. After graduation, he became a member of the Order of the Engineer, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's College of Engineering & Applied Science Alumni Association and Civil and Environmental Engineering Department's Industrial Advisory Board.

Considering his outstanding work and dedication in his field, he received a patent for an air cleaner assembly in 2007 and the Briggs & Stratton Innovation Showcase Award in 2012.

Outside of work, Mr. Honisch continues to contribute to his community as a blood donor through the Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin. He enjoys swimming at the Waukesha County YMCA and reading, especially historical fiction, to curate his interest in history and relating it to current events.

While his career has been filled with highlights, he takes the most pride in developing components and systems that will be launched into space. The cornerstone of his success lays in his drive and motivation.

Mr. Honisch initially applied to be an astronaut shortly after graduation from college. He was summarily rejected for being too tall. He has most recently applied for another opportunity to go to space and experience the "Overview Effect" through the nonprofit Space for Humanity's Citizen Astronaut Program. Within the next five years, Mr. Honisch aims to devote more time to achieving that goal – by going into space himself.
