HEMPSTEAD, NY, April 19, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jennifer J. Whitehead, MPA, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Leveraging more than two decades of excellence in behavioral and mental health intervention, Ms. Whitehead has earned distinctions with several aspects of mental health. She has worked in foster care, crisis intervention, behavioral modification and most recently as a care management coordinator for Northwell Health. Since 1995, she has focused her efforts on coordinating services such as therapy, behavioral modifications, training, referral assistance and appointments for the clients she served. In her spare time, she lends her knowledge and expertise in the Village of Hempstead on the Planning Board and as the 3rd Vice President on the Executive Board of the New Hempstead Democratic Club.
Prior to her current role, Ms. Whitehead began her career as a Child Protective Specialist in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. When she returned to New York, she went into the field of foster care initially with MercyFirst and then on to therapeutic foster care at Little Flower Children and Family Services. Once that program was dismantled, she went on to work as a Social Work Assistant with the Visiting Nurse Service of NY. In 2015, she went on as an intensive case manager for SCO Family of Services.
Having been involved in the field of child welfare since college, she worked in a group home with adolescent males and engaged in crisis intervention and behavior modification within the group home as well as their respective schools. Her vast experience has her doing things such as being a liaison in court for permanency and adoption hearings. She would also have to go into homes and schools to and assist children (and families) with severe behavior or mental health disorders.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, she earned a bachelor's degree in human services from Cazenovia College in 1999. Following this achievement, she attained a Master of Public Affairs and Administration from the Metropolitan College of New York in 2022 where she was also inducted in the National Honor Society of Public Administration Pi Alpha Alpha chapter.
Within the coming years, Ms. Whitehead wants to continue working in the mental health field and to prayerfully open her own agency that can be a "one stop shop" for all the services that a family may need. This would alleviate the confusion of having to navigate through a system of services that can be overwhelming to many. She is dedicated to being generous with her time to serve others, believing each contribution of kindness and assistance can improve the world.
