During the early stages of his career, Mr. Allbee gained valuable professional expertise with AGTec, an international trade company, Farm Credit, professional staff on the U.S. House Committee on Agriculture, the State of Vermont, Cornell University, Arter & Hadden, LLP, through which he honed his knowledge of agricultural trade policies. In the late-1960s, he also dedicated himself to his country as a captain in the U.S. Army with NATO forces. Alongside his work, Mr. Allbee has contributed to his community by volunteering with a variety of organizations, including the Union Institute and University, the Historical Society of Vermont and the Historical Society of Windham County, Valley Cares, and Rotary.
An expert in his field, Mr. Allbee holds a Bachelor of Science in agricultural economics from The University of Vermont, a Master of Science in agricultural and marine resource economics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, an honorary doctorate from Vermont State Colleges, an agricultural executives program certification through Cornell University, and various other certificates through Harvard University, the California Institute of Technology, and the American Management Association.
Due to his expansive breadth of knowledge, Mr. Allbee was featured in the Vermont Business Magazine article "Working the Landscape: Roger Allbee" and in Caledonian Record's "Roger Allbee: A Trip Through History with Vermont's Celebrated Dairy Industry." He was also involved in passing the first National Agriculture Land Protection Act in the Farm Bill in 1982. In light of his professional expertise, Mr. Allbee has received several awards, including an Alumni Award from the University of Vermont's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, a FSA Administrator's Award from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, an Honorary Doctorate from Vt State Colleges, a Lifetime Leadership Award from the Vermont Council on Rural Development, a President's Award from the Vermont Farm Bureau, and he has been inducted into the Vermont Agriculture Hall of Fame, just to name a few.
While his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Allbee is most proud of helping in starting a program at the Working Landscape Fund in Vermont to help young people succeed in farming and helping Grace Cottage Family Health & Hospital overcome financial difficulties. The cornerstone of his overall success lay in his parents, who instilled in him the importance of an education and community service.
