A seasoned legal expert with 5 years of legal experience and 15-plus years of work experience, Ms. Essick presently serves as a corporate associate for Cahill Gordon & Reindel LLP. In this capacity, she drafts agreements, coordinates with clients and opposing counsel, and analyzes regulatory requirements. Additionally, she manages other associates and paralegals. Previously, she served as a special situations and business bankruptcy restructuring associate for Ropes & Gray LLP, a restructuring associate for Kirkland & Ellis LLP, and prior to obtaining her graduate degrees she worked in consulting and institutional sales with FactSet Research Systems, Inc. During the early stages of her career, Ms. Essick gained valuable expertise in law at the Law Offices of Roy Lewis, Esq. P.A. Alongside her work, she contributes to volunteers through the National Alliance on Mental Illness' Metro Suburban chapter, an organization that has been a pioneer in supporting people living with mental health conditions and their families through its recovery programs, community education, and living rooms as a board member on the finance and governance committees. Through her firms, she has provided more the 500 hours of pro-bono services. Due to her vast breadth of knowledge, Ms. Essick has also served as a speaker and presenter for Forté Foundation.
An expert in her field, Ms. Essick completed an internship in building community through Columbia University in 2005 and received a Bachelor of Arts in economics and regional and Latino studies in 2007. In light of her personal achievements, Ms. Essick was named a Kluge Scholar at Columbia University. During her undergraduate education, she also finished an extended internship at a real estate executive search firm, Equinox Partners among other internships and activities. Ms. Essick became a summer associate with Quarles & Brady LLP and Kirkland & Ellis LLP, and received an MBA and JD from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management and Pritzker School of Law respectively. During her graduate program, Ms. Essick also applied her education and work experience at a family office specializing in the healthcare space, JVC Investment Partners. Her team created a strategic plan for the Toigo Vision Scholarship contest that placed second at the Toigo Foundation. Likewise, she received the Kirkland "PILI" Fellowship through Kirkland & Ellis LLP in 2018, through which she served at the Center for Conflict Resolution as a mediator, grant writer, and assisted in administrative functions.
While her career has been filled with highlights, Ms. Essick is most proud of the work she has done with the National Alliance on Mental Illness on the finance and governance committees. The cornerstone of her success lay in her passion for helping others and her profession as a whole.
