Leveraging more than a decade of excellence in the non-profit sector and over six years in criminal law, Ms. Gvatua has earned distinction as a contracted Senior Paralegal for the Department of Justice's Money Laundering and Asset Recovery Section. Since 2022, she has focused her efforts on the KleptoCapture Task Force, dedicated to enforcing the sweeping sanctions, export restrictions, and economic countermeasures that the United States has imposed, along with allies and partners, in response to Russia's military invasion of Ukraine. Prior to her current role, Ms. Gvatua began her career as the co-founder of the Dandelion Relief Group in 2009. Following this time, she served as a Senior Paralegal for the Santa Clara County Public Defenders in 2016 and became a union steward for the SEIU Local 521 in 2019. She subsequently functioned as a task supervisor for PAE in 2021.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Gvatua completed courses in paralegal studies from De Anza College in 2009 and earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Ashford University in 2015. Following these achievements, she attained a Master of Public Administration from Ashford University in 2017. Well-qualified in her field, she holds course certificates from the University of Pennsylvania, the University of London and Leiden University in international law, diplomacy and social norms, among other qualifications.
