Beginning his career more as a sous chef, Mr. Brantly was hired by the Sea Captains House Restaurant in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, between 1991 and 1995. He subsequently joined the Divine Dining Group in Myrtle Beach as an executive chef at its restaurant, Divine Fish House, an award-winning establishment and top 10 South Carolina restaurant, through which he was responsible for the culinary development of over 10 locations. Among other noteworthy roles, Mr. Brantly was the head chef at three elite country clubs in South Carolina and North Carolina before joining Sysco in North Carolina as a business resource premium protein specialist from 2008 to 2017 and seafood sales director of its fresh seafood program between 2014 and 2017.
Mr. Brantly was fortunate to participate in a cooking demonstration on Crook & Chase, a television show on The Nashville Network. Among other opportunities, he has volunteered his time working alongside his wife providing meals to the Special Operations Wounded Warriors, a nonprofit organization based in Myrtle Beach, for more than 10 years. Additionally, Mr. Brantly's wife serves as the organization's volunteer coordinator.
Mr. Brantly completed two years of coursework at East Carolina University. Well-qualified in his field, he garnered designation as a certified executive chef through the American Culinary Federation (ACF). Affiliated with the ACF for many years, Mr. Brantly is a past president of the Raleigh chapter, and past president of the Myrtle Beach Chapter, and a former show chair. He is also a past president of the Triangle Chefs Association.
Recognizing his accomplishments, Mr. Brantly was inducted into the American Academy of Chefs, the official honor society of the ACF, in 2019 and received three Gold and Silver Medals from the organization in honor of his expertise. Additionally, Mr. Brantly was featured in several featured articles in a local Houston publication regarding his expertise in seafood and, during an earlier stage of his career, was honored to be named as the South Carolina Chef of the Year in 2001.
