Mr. Graham is a successful restauranteur and the owner of Smack'n Guamanian Grill LLC, a family-owned and operated island barbeque restaurant and catering company established in San Diego in 2019. Centered in the same neighborhood, Mira Mesa, where he grew up, it is recognized as the only CHamoru restaurant within a 15-mile radius.
Offering a menu of traditional island favorites, from barbeque chicken, pork ribs, and beef to empanadas, shrimp patties, soups, and desserts, Mr. Graham focuses on serving quality authentic foods and superior service. He also strives to create a sense of community by offering a great atmosphere where every customer is treated like family. Notably, SMACK'N, which stands for Sudo Mesa Authentic CHamoru Kitchen, honors Mr. Graham's grandparents from Guam in the village of Yona.
Just 24 years old at the time of SMACK'N's grand opening, Mr. Graham left the corporate world behind to venture into entrepreneurship. However, after six months of managing his new business, the COVID-19 pandemic hit. As sales rapidly declined, Mr. Graham took to social media to produce his own three-minute rap music video on YouTube to attract customers. The video was so well received that people began traveling from afar to visit his restaurant and enjoy its culture and food.
Aside from his vested interest in hospitality, Mr. Graham aims to pursue other goals, including establishing a personal brand as a mentor and coach. He also envisions purchasing commercial real estate to provide communal spaces where individuals can acquire coaching and mentorship from subject matter experts in their desired calling.
Through his community, Mr. Graham is active as a member of the San Diego Small Business Development Center, the Asian Business Association, and the Black Chamber of Commerce and has spearheaded workshops affiliated with the Small Business Administration. He also gives back by sponsoring the Mira Mesa baseball and youth football teams and annually donates food and monetary to the Mira Mesa High School Foundation's Taste of Mira Mesa event. Moreover, as a devout Christian passionate about music, Mr. Graham has served as an audio and visual engineer at numerous congregations since the age of fourteen. Four years later, he began DJing. More recently, Mr. Graham began producing his own music. He is now building a multimedia production studio known as The MK LAB to enable opportunities for creatives, such as producers, artists, photographers, and many more to put their love, soul, and creativity into everything they produce. In addition. Mr. Graham has intentions to mentor and coach the creatives on how to develop and scale their calling into a fruitful business.
Mr. Graham attended San Diego State University with interdisciplinary studies in Economics, Computer Science, and Rhetoric and Writing Studies until 2018, however, has not completed his Bachelors yet as his entrepreneurship ventures have taken priority.
Considering his entrepreneurial accomplishments, he received a Certificate of Recognition as the first of District 6 Small Business Saturday in 2023. Mr. Graham was also featured in an article in the San Diego Business Journal, Guam's Pacific Daily News, and ABC 10 News for surviving the COVID-19 pandemic.
