Prior to his current role, Dr. Gupta began his career as a process development engineer with Regeneron Pharmaceuticals in 2009. In 2012, he joined Invictus Oncology (later known as Akamara Therapeutics) as a scientist and became a senior principal scientist and group leader for analytical sciences and the antibody-drug conjugate program for Akamara Therapeutics. Over the course of his career, Dr. Gupta has contributed a wealth of research articles to professional journals and knowledge to the pharmaceutical industry. He developed a novel linker technology for preparing site-specific antibody-drug conjugates which was granted a US patent and was published in the prestigious journal, Nature Biomedical Engineering.
Born in the modest city of Nagpur in Central India, prior to embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Gupta earned a bachelor's degree in biotechnology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras in 2006. Following this achievement, he attained a master's degree in biochemical engineering from Rutgers University in 2008. He subsequently gained a Doctor of Philosophy in targeted drug delivery via antibody-drug conjugates from Symbiosis International University under the mentorship of Dr. Monideepa Roy and Dr. Shiladitya Sengupta, who both provided a great deal of support as his advisers during his educational and career pursuits.
Dr. Gupta owes his success to his family, well-wishers, and mentors, and dedicates his achievements to his mother, Jyotsna Gupta. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his kids, playing tennis, and practicing music.
Within the coming years, Dr. Gupta intends to continue his work on developing novel antibody-drug conjugates. His goal is to establish himself as a leader in the field, serving as an inspiring and knowledgeable figure to rising scientists in the industry.
