With no plans of retiring, Mr. Scheller aims to remain in business for as long as he is physically capable.
HAUBSTADT, IN, May 02, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Herman Lee Scheller with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Scheller celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Scheller has distinguished himself as a local farmer for more than 60 years. Having learned the industry from his father while coming of age, he ultimately took over operations at the age of 16 after he was suddenly killed in an automobile accident. Despite the tragedy, Mr. Scheller successfully maintained the family farm while leading the household for his mother and the rest of his family.
To support the family further, Mr. Scheller became a coal miner for Peabody Energy in 1994. He spent the next 23 years in the field before retiring. Founded in the late 1800s in Chicago, Peabody Energy is notably recognized as a coal mining and energy company headquartered in Saint Louis.
Besides his farming responsibilities, Mr. Scheller has been a talented woodworker since 2000. He enjoys making unique works of art that require him to challenge himself. Among his favorite pieces was a custom wine rack he made for his brother that holds over 70 bottles.
As a longstanding community member, Mr. Scheller has been active with several nonprofit and civil organizations. He has served as a board member for the Armstrong Recreation Center and parishioner at Saint Will Church. Moreover, Mr. Scheller was instrumental in donating equipment to a nearby Future Farmers of America, a nonprofit career and technical student organization, in their effort to distribute crops.
Attributing his success and longevity in the farming industry to his father, Mr. Scheller was named as the Outstanding Farmer of the Year in Vanderburgh County in 1973. Now 76 years young, he is still inspired by his upbringing and his mother for her incredible strength during a very challenging time.
With no plans of retiring, Mr. Scheller aims to remain in business for as long as he is physically capable. He enjoys being a farmer and considers it more of a hobby than work.
