In recognition of his outstanding body of work, Mr. Ross earned the Kentucky Colonel Award.
MOUNT STERLING, KY, May 05, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Charles Ross has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
At just 14 years old, Mr. Ross became homeless and encountered others like him. From that moment on, he knew he wanted to help the homeless, culminating in his current role as founder and director of Shepherds Shelter's Ross Rehab. Likewise, he is the pastor for Bless the Lord Church Inc. Through the rehabilitation center and his church, he oversees one shelter for men. During the early days of aiding the homeless population, he was unaware how many people were addicted to drugs and alcohol, and struggling with mental health issues. However, through the grace of God, court orders began to come in ordering people into much-needed treatment. In light of the sheer number of those in need, Shepherds Shelter's Ross Rehab, which is accredited by the American Society of Addiction Medicine, purchased two more houses to extend their treatment program. Currently, Mr. Ross houses upwards of 50 individuals at any given time, assisting them in rebuilding their lives through mental health treatment, job placements, and more. Additionally, he has recently earned the approval of the Department of Corrections and aims to bring former inmates to the facility.
Before becoming a guardian to the homeless community, Mr. Ross gained valuable professional expertise as a certified nursing assistant with St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. An expert in his field, he became a registered addiction specialist in drug addiction through the University of the Pacific and studied at Penn State University. Subsequently, Mr. Ross expanded upon his professional knowledge, earning a Bachelor of Applied Science in social work and becoming a certified alcohol and drug counselor through Morehead State University. Similarly, he is a registered addiction specialist, a CPR instructor, recovery dynamics instructor, and DUI administrator. He is C.A.R.F. accredited and A.O.D.E.
In recognition of his outstanding body of work, Mr. Ross earned the Kentucky Colonel Award. While his career has been filled with standout moments, he is most proud of the wonderful family he has built at Shepherds Shelter. The cornerstone of his overall success lay with God and his hard work. Within the next five to ten years, Mr. Ross aims to open a women's facility, help eliminate the stigma that comes with addiction, and work with a second nonprofit organization.
