Dr. Gold is the district psychologist with the Reed Union School District.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA, May 09, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Allan P. Gold, PhD, NCSP, is a distinguished biographee of Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are chosen from among a pool of the most prominent professionals and are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Dr. Gold is the district psychologist with the Reed Union School District where he is a critical member of a team that brings comprehensive mental wellness resources to the student population. He has enjoyed a long and distinguished tenure with the district, having onboarded in 1976, and he keeps a purposeful focus on children at risk due to a disrupted or challenging home life. To encourage and support all students, Dr. Gold is intentional about forming collectives under appropriate emphasis and offers individual and group counseling, assessments for students with special education needs, and consults daily with teachers, administrators, and parents.
His father's 40-year career as a high school teacher in part prompted Dr. Gold to pursue a career as an educator. His impressive academic achievements include graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley, and he had planned to deploy that training as a statistics professor. However, during his honorable service in the United States Army Reserves, Dr. Gold was trained as a psychology social work specialist, which inspired a transition to a career in school psychology. Dr. Gold went on to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley, and completed a PhD in educational psychology at the same reputable institution in 1978.
Dr. Gold holds critical industry credentials, including the Nationally Certified School Psychologist designation, and distinct commendations have marked the productive milestones in his career. In 1991 and again in 2017, for example, he accepted the Outstanding School Psychologist Award from the California Association of School Psychologists, which he counts as a highlight of his many accomplishments so far. Dr. Gold also accepted the First Educator Award for Outstanding Educators from the Reed Union School District in 1994 and was honored with The Rotary Club Award for community service in 2015.
Various peripheral experiences further define Dr. Gold's professional profile, including a seven-year adjunct professor appointment at the University of California, Berkeley, between 1980 and 1987. In seeking to support all segments of the Reed Union district, he co-facilitates two middle school organizations: the Teach Equity and Acceptance club and the Gender Sexuality Alliance group. In addition, Dr. Gold was the chairman of the board of Being Adept, a non-profit dedicated to educating middle school students about drug and alcohol effects. The organization was, unfortunately, discontinued due to COVID. He was also president of his local synagogue from 1991-1993. He remains current in his field via sustained memberships in the California Association of School Psychologists and the National Association of School Psychologists.
