A seasoned engineering and education expert, Dr. Tomomewo excels as an assistant professor and the director of Energy and Petroleum Engineering Programs at the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks. In this capacity, he specializes in developing advanced technology to meet energy needs and collaborates with other faculties to design and develop new programs to help other professionals move into renewable energy. Prior to joining the University of North Dakota, Dr. Tomomewo worked for the University as a research and teaching assistant.
During the early stages of his career, Dr. Tomomewo gained valuable expertise in the field as a drilling optimization engineer for Schlumberger and as a drilling, completions, and production fluids engineer for Oando. Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, he aligns himself with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan, the System Dynamics Society, the Nigerian Society of Engineers, the Society of Petroleum Engineers, and the Association of Energy Engineers just to name a few.
An expert in his field, Dr. Tomomewo holds a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering and a Master of Science in energy technology and management from the University of Ibadan. Subsequently, he expanded upon his professional knowledge by earning an MBA from the University of Port Harcourt, and a Master of Engineering in energy systems engineering, and PhD in energy engineering from the University of North Dakota. Additionally, Dr. Tomomewo became a registered engineer through The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria.
Due to his vast breadth of knowledge, Dr. Tomomewo contributed to a number of publications, including "Creating Value for The High-Saline Bakken Produced Water by Optimizing its Viscoelastic Properties and Proppant Carrying Tendency with High-Viscosity Friction" and "An improved hydraulics model for aerated fluid underbalanced drilling in vertical wells. Similarly, Dr. Tomomewo has presented his work at such institutions as the American Rock Mechanics Association and the SPE Canada Unconventional Resources Conference. In light of his professional achievements, he received the Most Innovating in the Research Department Award from the University of North Dakota. Dr. Tomomewo attributes his overall success to God Almighty and his late grandmother, Mrs. Tomomewo Mercy Oluwatomisin, who instilled in him the value of hard work at a very early age. He is married to Modupeoluwa Tomomewo, and they are blessed with Iremide, Araoluwa, and Ifeoluwa Tomomewo. Within the coming years, Dr. Tomomewo aims to advance renewable energy technologies.
