Backed by 25 years of experience, she aims to empower clients to make important decisions and positive changes in their lives. During the early stages of her career, she gained valuable expertise as a licensed clinical social worker for Community Mental Health Center and providing critical incident counseling for several insurance companies. Critical incident counseling assists people involved in traumatic incidents to help them manage the crises and hopefully not develop serious mental illness due to that trauma. She has provided comfort rounding for hospitals during the pandemic to help reduce the stress the nursing and auxiliary staff experienced. She has assisted the staff in managing their stress levels as well as providing positive self-care during difficult times.
Alongside her work, Ms. Phipps is a Trustee of her church and contributes to her community as a volunteer with the Food Pantry. An expert in her field, she earned an undergraduate degree from Virginia State University before completing a Master of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1989. Subsequently, Ms. Phipps earned a license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in 1994 from the Virginia Department of Health Professions. Though her career has been filled with highlights, she takes the most pride in being available to people and the community.
While hard work and dedication have brought her far in her career, Ms. Phipps credits her success to her family and God's grace. She came from a disadvantaged family and could have easily ended up walking a different path in life. However, through determination and God's mercy, she was able to complete graduate school as a single mother with two small children. In the next five to ten years, Ms. Phipps aims to retire, travel more, and become involved in community crisis programs such as FEMA.
