Leveraging more than two decades of excellence in nursing administration, Dr. Asabor has earned distinction as an adjunct professor with Seton Hall University. Since 2021, she has focused her efforts on teaching courses and mentoring students in clinical areas in nursing programs. Additionally, she has been a nursing leader and administrator for many New York City Teaching Hospitals since 2005, assisting in daily hospital activities to improve patient satisfaction and promoting high quality of care for all patients. Added to these roles, she has worked as an independent registered nurse since 2005 with some healthcare agencies and is also a co-pastor with I AM Ministries, GGIC since 2000.
Prior to her current role, Dr. Asabor began her career as a network news reporter for the Nigerian Television Authority in 1983 and worked with Newswatch Magazine in 1985. Following this time, she served as the assistant director of nursing for St. Vincent's Medical Center in 2005 and took a role as a patient care manager at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital in 2011. She also served as an Assistant Director of Nursing at Montefiore Medical Center and currently a nurse administrator for New York Presbyterian Hospital. Among her professional accomplishments, she is proud to have received recognition for Outstanding Work in Martin Luther King Week from St. Vincent's Medical Center in 2007 by the late Sister Shiela Brosnan.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Dr. Asabor earned a higher diploma in mass communications and media studies from the College of Journalism and Masscommunication in London, England in 1983 and 1985 respectively. Dr. Asabor obtained a diploma as a licensed practical and vocational nurse from the Medgar Evers College of CUNY in 1999 and subsequently gained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Molloy College in 2003 as well as a diploma as a legal nurse consultant from Wagner College in 2005. She then earned a Master of Science in health administration from Central Michigan University in 2012 and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Aspen University in 2022. For her DNP project, she developed a Breastfeeding Tool Kit for Black Moms as an added resource to navigate the underserved community in Staten Island, NY. She conducted an eight week Quality Improvement Project to help bring awareness and encourage Black moms to breastfeed. She is also a certified lactation counselor.
Dr. Asabor is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, The National Society of Leadership and Success, and the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses.
Dr.Asabor prides herself as a mother of two successful children in their chosen careers and one was recently recognized by Forbes 30 under 30 in January 2022 for her contribution in healthcare for North America.
Within the coming years, Dr. Asabor intends to spend the rest of her professional life inspiring the rising generation of nurses and nursing administrators.
