Since 2015, she has focused her efforts on cases involving removal defense, family-based immigration and handling humanitarian visa applications. Additionally, she lends her expertise as a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the Hispanic Bar Association of New Jersey and the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals, among other professional organizations.
Likewise dedicated to civil advocacy, Ms. Curbelo serves as a pro bono attorney with Kids in Need of Defense and the Northeast Legal Services of New Jersey. She has also been a secretary with the New Jersey Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association since 2022.
Prior to her current role, Ms. Curbelo began her career as a legal assistant for Sullivan and Cromwell in 2000 and was a summer judicial extern for the Hon. Jose L. Linares of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey in 2004. Following this time, she served as a law clerk for the Hon. Joseph S. Conte of the Superior Court of New Jersey in 2005 and joined Sullivan and Cromwell LLP as a business development analyst in 2006. She continued her career with Sullivan and Cromwell LLP as a litigation analyst in 2007 until taking a role as a mediator with the New Jersey State Board of Mediation in 2011. She subsequently functioned as a legal liaison and appeals examiner with the NJ Department of Labor and Workforce Development in 2012.

Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Curbelo earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Rutgers University in 2000. Following this achievement, she attained a Juris Doctor from the Vermont Law and Graduate School in 2005. Well-qualified in her field, she was admitted to the bar associations of the United States Supreme Court, the Third Circuit of the Circuit of Appeals, the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey and the State of New Jersey. Within the coming years, Ms. Curbelo intends to continue her work in immigration law, passionately inspired by her parents who were themselves refugees from Cuba.
