TUCSON, AZ, May 17, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Kira Reid has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mrs. Reid is the visionary and co-founder of Reach for the Stars (RFTS), a nonprofit organization launched in Tucson, Arizona, in 2020 to help improve the mental health of children and others throughout the community. Hoping to curb statistics, Arizona has seen a 20% increase in severe anxiety in children since the pandemic and a teenage suicide rate of 17%, which is higher than the national average, according to Mrs. Reid.
RFTS notably offers various STEM and astronomy programs and other opportunities that reduce depression, enhance spirituality, and generate harmony and creativity. The organization also offers memberships and hosts vendor fairs, private stargazing events, school aged presentations, and youth and adult camps in collaboration with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America. Moreover, RFTS conducts annual fundraising events to support its mission. Looking toward the future, Ms. Reid's vision is to incorporate an after school observatory and learning center.
During an earlier stage of her career, Ms. Reid worked in addiction recovery as a coach with Old Pueblo Community Services. She also served her country in the U.S. Air Force as a non-commissioned officer in charge, signals analyst, deployment manager, mission manager, and fitness manager between 2004 and 2015.
Ms. Reid attended the Community College of the Air Force. She holds an Associate's in Intelligence Studies from the American Military University. Ms. Reid also received credentials as a master social worker from Miami University.
As a part of her professional commitments, Ms. Reid is active as a member of Business Networking International and various Tucson networking organizations.
Recognizing her accomplishments, RFTS was selected as a Reader's Choice finalist in 2022 by the Arizona Daily Star among Tucson's top three nonprofit organizations and is in the running for the BBB 2023 Torch Ethics Award. Mrs. Reid was also decorated with a Bronze Star from the U.S. Air Force for her meritorious combat service in the military.
