Leveraging more than three decades of excellence in the automotive industry, Mr. Nichols has earned distinction as a human resources specialist. In this capacity, he is a human resource, labor relations, employment and People Development Specialist with Stellantis at the Toledo Ohio Assembly Complex, FCA Chrysler. Since 2020, he has focused his efforts on training, recruiting employees and running the new hire orientation programs for the facility of some 7,000 employees. He conducts leadership development training and investigates any labor issues that may arise as well as organizes and attends recruiting events and orientation / assessment activities.
Outside of his primary career efforts, Mr. Nichols has been a trainer and workshop facilitator for the Ohio Violence Prevention Program since 1998. He is a certified practitioner for reading the Heart of Akashic Record of the Center for Akashic Studies as well as a second degree Reiki practitioner, having joined both practices in 2011. He also serves as a founding steering committee member for the Global Conscious Youth Network, which provides after-school and in-school programs for youth; they teach them social skills, values and how to handle themselves in stressful situations to make better life choices and decisions. Additionally, in 2005, he founded Community Action Service Endeavors, through which he travels to the community and provides training and workshops in diversity and violence prevention.
Prior to starting his private career, Mr. Nichols served honorably in the United States Army as a material and logistics officer from 1980 to 1989. Achieving the rank of Captain, he oversaw security plans, operations, and training in two Battalions as the Staff S2/3 Officer in Kansas and Germany. In addition to selection as Company Commander while stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas, his unit was selected by the Department of the Army to deploy to Honduras to provide maintenance and logistical support to Engineering and Host Nation Support projects. His company shortened the resupply chain process by developing and successfully establishing a secure automated computerized system that cut the typical 4-week process to two weeks or less, and get parts from the U.S. into Honduras using ground relays and satellite communication, establishing new supply theater doctrine. In recognition of his dedicated service, he and his entire company received Army Achievement Medals and special recognition awards.
Following his military service, Mr. Nichols became a production manager with Hallmark Cards in Topeka Kansas before relocating to Michigan and Ohio, where he remains employed in the automotive industry. From Production Manager for Norplas Industries, Shift Superintendent at Vitec Industries in Detroit, and Plant Manager of a plastics recycling company in Troy Michigan, from 1999-2014. Since 2014, Mr. Nichols has been employed with Stellantis, FCA Chrysler Corporation in Toledo Ohio, home of the Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator and nearly 7,000 employees.
Concurrent with his professional career, he was also a Jurisdictional Bishop of Integrity Fellowship with Integrity and Truth Ministries from 2009 to 2013, and Senior Pastor of Victory International Praise in Toledo Ohio.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Nichols earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Missouri Western State University in 1983. Well-qualified in his field, he is a certified Ohio violence prevention practitioner and Alumni of the Atlanta based Diversity, Equality and Inclusion Summit. He has leveraged this passion for diversity in facilitating education, training and mentoring in his various occupations, in schools, colleges and communities. Among his professional accomplishments, he was honored with a Best Employee Relations Award, Most Flexible Manager. He also received an award from the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People where he served and the VP and then President of the Northwest Ohio NAACP. He received several awards for his work in community outreach, school outreach and his leadership in healing the community following a series of KKK rallies that occurred in his community. He also served on the County FEMA Board, City Recreation Committee, Catholic Charities and the Mayors Family and Children First Council in Defiance Ohio, helping make peace.
Within the coming years, Mr. Nichols intends to continue his work as a humanitarian and diversity practitioner. His goal is to build bridges with his community action, and as part of this, he has purchased seven properties to provide shelter for battered women and vacant land in the inner city to develop community gardens. He is also working towards revitalizing his radio show, "Darrell Show," into a podcast and YouTube channel, enabling him to reach more people and make more peace.
