Meier's interest in genealogy and his family's history led him to build a family tree and make many discoveries about his family's past ancestors and ethnic origins.
PLYMOUTH, MA, May 18, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to honor Sergeant Robert Charles Meier with inclusion in Who's Who in the World. An accomplished listee, Mr. Meier celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Meier retired from the Massachusetts State Police in 1998 after nearly three decades with the department. He went on to work twelve years for Amica Mutual Insurance Co. as an insurance fraud investigator in their Special Investigations Unit.
During his time with the Massachusetts State Police, Mr. Meier was on the road as a Trooper enforcing motor vehicle and criminal laws. In 1978 he was assigned to the Bureau of Investigative Services and transferred to the Major Crime Unit in Boston at 1010 Commonwealth Avenue. He would work directly for Lt. Colonel John O'Donovan. In September of that year, he would be transferred to the Crime Prevention and Control Unit of the Worcester District Attorney's Office. The unit conducted investigations, including homicide investigations and "white collar" criminal investigations, for the District Attorney's Office.
Mr. Meier graduated from Salem State University in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Education. In 1983 he would earn a Master of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from Anna Maria College. While he was at Salem, during the summers of 1968, 1969 and 1970, he worked as a police officer for the Town of Barnstable on Cape Cod. Mr. Meier's experience with the Barnstable Police sparked his interest in police work and encouraged him to seek a career in law enforcement.
Mr. Meier is a member of two state police organizations for retired troopers, the Former Mass. State Trooper's Association and the Retired Troopers Association. He is also a member of the Massachusetts Society of Mayflower Descendants, of which he is a past Deputy Governor. He is also a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. Meier's interest in genealogy and his family's history led him to build a family tree and make many discoveries about his family's past ancestors and ethnic origins.
Among his many career highlights, Mr. Meier is most proud of a homicide investigation in 1983 where he received a letter of commendation from Colonel James T. Canty for his diligence in a rape and murder investigation that resulted in the arrest and conviction of the victim's killer. Col. Canty wrote that "a very dangerous individual has been removed from society." Meier was also commended in a letter from Colonel Reed V. Hillman, at his retirement, for his twenty-seven years of service to the people of Mass. and his career with the Mass. State Police. Meier also received a letter of commendation from State Senator Matthew J. Amorello for conducting a multi-department operation to recapture individuals who had escaped from a secure juvenile detention facility.
