Drawing on more than a decade of expertise in pre-hospital emergency medicine, Mr. Wesley is recognized for his astute direction of the Emergency Medical Science Program at Blue Ridge Community College. As an expert in pre-hospital care for emergency medical services, Mr. Wesley teaches pre-hospital providers in training, maintains his program's accreditation with national and state accrediting bodies, oversees all emergency medical sciences courses for quality and for adherence to college, state and national regulations, maintains relationships with community partners, and facilitates trainings. An organized leader, his exceptional management of the program earned him the title of his college's 2022 Faculty Person of the Year after just a year at the institution, a recognition of which Mr. Wesley is deeply proud.
Mr. Wesley first sought an education at Montreat College, earning an Associate of Science in biology in 2010. He went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science in emergency medical care and a master's degree in health science, both from Western Carolina University. He is certified as a paramedic, an EMS Educators Levelland Level 2 Instructor, a Level 2 Paramedic Instructor, a Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor, and a Pediatric Advanced Life Support Instructor. As a commitment to his field, he remains active with the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians and the National Association of Emergency Medical Services Educators.
Prior to joining Blue Ridge Community College in 2021, Mr. Wesley served as a field training officer and lead senior paramedic 3 for Spartanburg EMS, and as a clinical preceptor and emergency medical technician for Western Carolina University. In his current position and in all of his past work, he attributes his success to his passion for helping others, a quality that he honed as an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America.
In the next five years, Mr. Wesley hopes to remain active in higher education and to continue expanding the scope of operations at the Emergency Medical Science Program at Blue Ridge Community College. With the paramedic program about to double in size, it is an exciting time to lead the program. Looking forward, he hopes to become the dean or vice president of the school.
