Mr. Desfachelles is an entrepreneur, engineer, and winemaker who has focused on his work as owner of Copper Horse Vineyard since 2011. Many of Copper Horse Vineyard's wines have won awards in international food and wine competitions, including several double gold medal winning bottles.
Born in France, Mr. Desfachelles holds a degree in electrical and electronics engineering from ISEP. After completing his military service in Paris, he came to the United States to pursue graduate-level education, earning a Master of Business Administration at the University of Dallas in 1986, and he later earned three certificates in, respectively, food and wine pairing, wine production, and business from the Wine Academy at South Seattle College. His interest in winemaking began to develop during an early-career internship with Moon Valley Circuits in Napa Valley, where he had the opportunity to work on winemaking presses and other winery equipment. Before shifting his focus to wine full-time, Mr. Defaschelles enjoyed more than 20 years of success in business leadership roles, including a decade as a senior business consultant for the Compagnie Generale d'Informatique, and a position as a business systems analyst for Nordstrom, Inc. from 1998 until 2016.
Mr. Desfachelles credits his success to hard work and a passion for creation. He is a member of Wilcox Wine Country and is active in community support as a volunteer firefighter and supporter of numerous charities. In the coming years, Mr. Desfachelles looks forward to continuing to build the Copper Horse Vineyard brand and to continue to enter his wines into competition.
