While at Thomas Reuters, he was instrumental in developing human capital policies to support the corporation's business strategies, was appointed to its disclosure committee, and chaired its global retirement committee. Meanwhile, at Salomon Brothers, Mr. Raffaeli was recognized in a segment on CNBC featuring his successful implementation of the first large-scale, on-site managed healthcare network in the U.S.
Mr. Raffaeli also spent many years teaching an executive program and Master of Business Administration students in Thailand and various other courses at the University of Chester and Saint Mary's University. Additionally, he had the opportunity to serve as a Master of Business Administration dissertation supervisor and career school instructor in New York and on several professional committees and boards, including the board of directors for the University of Business and International Studies in Geneva, Switzerland.
An accomplished author, Mr. Raffaeli has contributed health-related articles to professional publications. He was also a contributing editor of Managing Employee Health Benefits Magazine and a member of the board of advisors for the Journal of Health Care Benefits. Moreover, Mr. Raffaeli's works have been cited in a multitude of national publications. Looking toward the future, he aims to finish writing and publishing his books.
Civically invested, Mr. Raffaeli is a hereditary member of America's oldest patriotic organization, the Society of the Cincinnati, a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and National Genealogical Society, and the vice chair of the board of trustees of the Mountbatten Internship Programme since 2011. He previously served as the board chair of King School, Literacy Volunteers and the Child Guidance Center of Southwestern Connecticut and as the vice chair of the board of the English-Speaking Union of the United States and the American International Accreditation Association. Mr. Raffaeli's 18 years of service with buildOn was notably honored when a school in Mali, Africa was named in his and his family's honor. Mr. Raffaeli and his family fully funded five build on school houses in developing countries and he was named a 'Leader of the Movement' by buildOn in 2016.
Mr. Raffaeli earned a Bachelor of Arts in social science from Waynesburg University in 1975 and a Master of Science in industrial relations from West Virginia University in 1977.
Honoring his achievements, Mr. Raffaeli was recognized in the New York International Wine Competition in 2020 with the 'Argentina Barrel Aged Winery of the Year' and in 2021 with the 'Blended Scotch Whisky of the Year' by the New York International Spirits Competition. For his contributions to the community, he was honored to receive the American Hero Award from the National Kidney Registry in 2017 for donating one of his kidneys to a patient in need.
