MONTCLAIR, NJ, May 30, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Anita McGrath Peterson has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Drawing on many years of experience in the nonprofit sector, Ms. Peterson has been the Director of Development for The Montclair Foundation/Van Vleck House and Gardens in Montclair, New Jersey, since 2018. As part of her role, she collaborates with the grants committee, which serves to evaluate and recommend various grants to the board. She also oversees a nonprofit roundtable series for the community, which is an educational opportunity for executive directors and nonprofit professionals to participate and learn new skills. She has more than doubled the Van Vleck House & Gardens membership program and was instrumental in growing corporate sponsorships of Van Vleck events.
Notably, The Montclair Foundation was established to support not-for-profit organizations that meet health, educational, cultural, social service and quality of life needs in the greater Montclair community. Equally important to its mission is the preservation of the historic Van Vleck House & Gardens which are free and open to the public year round.
Ms. Peterson's experience in the nonprofit sector includes working as the Montclair Public Library Foundation Manager from 2009 to 2018. She was also a consultant with Rabinowitz Partners as a part of a team that launched a new nonprofit called Liam's Room. During the early stage of her career, she garnered more than 17 years of experience in media planning and buying with OMD USA, DDB Needham, Lintas USA, and Wells Rich Greene. Throughout her advertising tenure, she worked with many clients including Procter & Gamble, MasterCard, Cigna Insurance, Olympus Cameras, and the Bermuda Department of Tourism.
In the past few years, as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Ms. Peterson successfully established an emergency fund to support area nonprofits impacted by the pandemic. The Montclair Foundation raised approximately $120,000.
Civically, Ms. Peterson worked with several other nonprofits, including the Rutherford Theatre Company as one of its founders. She also served as the Rutherford Public Library Foundation President. She is also a former member of the Rutherford Junior Woman's Club.
A graduate of Marymount College in Tarrytown, New York, Ms. Peterson achieved a Bachelor of Science in Business and Marketing. She also received certification in fundraising through the Support Center for Nonprofit Management in New York City.
