With more than a decade of excellence in integrating sustainability into architecture, Mr. Huffmaster has earned distinction as the founder of the Architectural Design Group. Since 2020, he has focused his efforts on handling the marketing, drafting and design, and construction administration. He researches volatile organic compounds and educates his clients about how they can impact indoor air quality and their overall quality of life. Additionally, he is a valued member of the American Institute of Architects, the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, the International Living Future Institute and the Passive House Institute of the United States.
Prior to establishing his company, Mr. Huffmaster began his career as a construction worker with Frontier Log Homes in 2005 and became a building plan review intern with the St. Louis County Department of Public Works in 2008. Later that year, he served as a lab assistant at the University of Kansas until taking a role as a barista and assistant manager for the Signs of Life Coffee and Bookstore in 2010. He continued his career as an architectural intern with Wold Architects and Engineers in 2013 and became an architectural designer for Pope Architects in 2016. During this time, he also lent his expertise to the Army National Guard as a specialist from 2011 until 2017. Following this period, he was an architect with Meyer, Scherer and Rockcastle, Ltd. in 2018.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Huffmaster completed coursework in civil engineering at Bradley University and earned a master's degree in architecture from the University of Kansas in 2011. Well-qualified in his field, he is a LEED green associate and a registered architect.
Looking to the future, Mr. Huffmaster intends to grow his practice, adding more practitioners to his company and establishing a team within the architectural community through collaborative efforts. He also aspires to work on a building that's part of the Living Building Challenge, which is the gold standard of sustainable building design certifications.
