Leading a distinguished career as a mental health counselor, Dr. Ronkin has been affiliated with Brockton High School in Brockton, Massachusetts, as a health educator since 1970. He also serves in an instrumental capacity at Brockton Family Counseling Center Inc., a nonprofit organization based in South Easton, Massachusetts, as its executive director. Additionally, Dr. Ronkin has collaborated with Parents Without Partners in Massachusetts, an international nonprofit organization that supports single parents and their children, as a client consultant since 1989.
Originally a health educator and specialist, Dr. Ronkin was introduced to mental health counseling in order to support his own personal growth. Expanding his knowledge base, he became a certified clinical master hypnotist. Eventually, Dr. Ronkin and his wife, a certified counselor, opened their own counseling practice, which they maintained between 1974 and 2007.
Among other noteworthy roles, Dr. Ronkin functioned as a facilitator for Brockton Community Schools from 1973 to 1989, an associate therapist for The Brookline Center for Personal Growth between 1980 and 1982, and a client consultant/therapist for the Transition Independent Living Program for the Homeless in the Greater Boston area from 1987 until 1992. He also had the opportunity to spend time at the Plymouth County Correctional Facility as a psychologist and at several area police departments as a therapist. Adjacent to his work in the field, Dr. Ronkin taught as an adjunct professor at Curry College and Bridgewater State College and availed himself as a guest lecturer at Labouré College of Healthcare.
Civically, Dr. Ronkin is a 32nd degree/master mason of Free Masonry, the world's oldest and largest fraternal organization. He also served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy.
Dr. Ronkin earned a Bachelor of Arts at Saint Anselm's College, a Master of Arts in education at Bridgewater State University, and a Doctor of Education at Boston University. Well-qualified in his field, he is a licensed counselor and holds credentials as a Reiki Master.
As a part of his established commitments in his field, Dr. Ronkin maintains his affiliation with the New England Association for Specialists in Group Work, the National Association of Prevention Profiles, the American Public Health Association, the Massachusetts Association of Mental Health Counselors and, among other prominent professional organizations, the American Mental Health Counselors Association. He has also been recognized as a past president and former executive board member of the Massachusetts Mental Health Counselors Association.
