Prior to obtaining her current role, she was honed her industry knowledge as an adviser specializing in water, labor, and foreign affairs for the Federal Congress of Mexico and as a research assistant at Texas A&M University. Due to her vast breadth of knowledge, Dr. Sanchez has contributed to a number of publications, including the first ever map of transboundary aquifers between Mexico and the United States that was part of the latest UNESCO publication on transboundary aquifers. She quoted the term "transboundariness" that refers to the strategic value of an aquifer that happens to be on the border. Additionally, she also published "Transboundary Aquifers between Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo Leon and Tamaulipas, Mexico, and Texas, USA: Identification and Categorization," which was featured in the Journal of Hydrology, and "World Water Supply and Use: Challenges for the Future." An expert in her field, she earned a bachelor's degree in international relations from Tecnologico de Monterrey and a master's degree in diplomatic studies from Matias Romero Institute. Subsequently, Dr. Sanchez expanded upon her professional knowledge, earning a PhD in water management from Texas A&M University.
In light of her outstanding body of work, Dr. Sanchez has been honored on many occasions, earning the Entrepreneur Award from Tecnologico de Monterrey.
