BELVEDERE, CA, June 16, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- John Busterud has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Mr. Busterud is a former EPA regional administrator, senior environmental and energy attorney, and veteran. As regional administrator for Region 9 of the United States Environmental Protection Agency, he oversaw environmental regulatory matters for California, Arizona, Nevada, and Hawaii, 148 federally recognized tribes, and the Pacific Territorial Islands, protecting the health and safety of 50 million Americans. Prior to joining EPA, he was Chief Counsel and Senior Director, Environment and Real Estate for Pacific Gas & Electric Company where he practiced law for over 30 years. During his tenure at PG&E, he was also appointed as a member of EPA's Clean Air Act Advisory Committee.
Mr. Busterud is also a retired US Army Colonel who deployed twice post-9/11 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. His decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, and Parachutist's Badge. Following his military career, he served the veterans' community as vice chair of the California Veterans Board, an advocate for the United States Department of Defense's Employer Support of Guard and Reserve and Judge Advocate for American Legion Post 179.
Outside of his work, Mr. Busterud dedicates himself to the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem, an international health care organization through which he was named a Knight of Grace by Queen Elizabeth II. He currently serves as a Board Member for the California Council for Environmental and Economic Balance.
Mr. Busterud is a graduate of The Thacher School and earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from Union College and a JD from the University of California's Hastings College of Law in San Francisco. Additionally, he was admitted to practice through the State Bar of California and the District of Columbia Bar. He is also a graduate of the US Army's Command and General Staff College.
