HONOLULU, HI, June 20, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Beatriz L. Rodriguez, MD, MPH, PhD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Leveraging more than three decades of excellence as a scientist, educator and mentor, Dr. Rodriguez has earned distinction as a professor of geriatric medicine with the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Since 1991, she has focused her efforts on conducting research and teaching students about cardiovascular diseases and diabetes epidemiology. She presently teaches courses in chronic diseases, clinical research and problem-based learning.
Additionally, during her career she served as a valued member of the program committee for the Scientific Sessions of the American Heart Association, was President of the American Heart Association Hawaii Affiliate, a board member of the National American Heart Association and is a fellow of the Council of Epidemiology and Prevention.
In addition, she was appointed as adjunct professor for the Instituto Tecnologico de Monterrey, conducting diabetes and cardiovascular diseases research in Monterrey, Mexico. Dr. Rodriguez became an assistant professor in 1991, an associate professor in 1996 and full Professor in the year 2000 at the University of Hawaii. Over the course of her career, she has contributed more than 260 publications in scientific journals.
Prior to embarking on her professional journey, Dr. Rodriguez earned a Doctor of Medicine from the Instituto Tecnologico de Monterrey in Mexico. Following this achievement, she attained a Master of Public Health and Doctor of Philosophy in Epidemiology in 1990, both from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. She also completed a postdoctoral fellowship in cardiovascular epidemiology at the University of Texas in 1991.
Within the coming years, Dr. Rodriguez intends to continue her teaching and mentorship work, giving back to the community of physicians and scientists in training she is passionate about. She is proud to have had the opportunity to guide young scientists and medical students as well as to have conducted research on diabetes and cardiovascular diseases with the Honolulu Heart Program, Intermap, the Search for Diabetes in Youth study and many other projects.
