Previously, Dr. Masi worked for the organization as a geoscience advisor and with Osprey Petroleum Company, Inc., through which she developed and oversaw operations in Texas and Louisiana.
During the early stages of her career, Dr. Masi gained valuable expertise in the field with such entities as BP, Rice University, the Venezuelan Foundation for Seismological Research, and Teikoku Oil and Gas. Outside of her work, she has contributed to her community as a board member of several organizations including the Association of Women in Science - Houston Chapter and the Geophysical Society of Houston. Due to her outstanding breadth of knowledge, Dr. Masi has co-written a number of articles, including "A New and Improved Velocity Model for the Southeastern Caribbean," "Maximus Survey: Opportunities in Deepwater Gulf of Mexico" "Caribbean Atlantic Margin Deep Imaging, South-Eastern Caribbean Exploration Opportunities: A New Regional Study" and "Subduction-driven recycling of continental margin lithosphere," which was published in Nature.
An expert in her field, Dr. Masi holds a Bachelor of Science in geophysics from Universidad Simón Bolívar and a PhD in Earth science from Rice University. In light of her professional achievements, she won the Torkild Rieber Award in Geology from Rice University's Earth Science Department twice and the Outstanding Student Paper Award from the American Geophysical Union. While her career has been filled with highlights, she takes the most pride in maintaining an excellent work-life balance. The cornerstone of her success lay in her ability to connect with her superiors and other geophysical experts. Looking ahead, Dr. Masi intends to transition into a management role.
