He and his team were part of the approval of the first monoclonal antibody for the treatment of HIV.

He was listed on the SD 500 by the San Diego Business Journal in 2022 and his business was named one of the Cool Companies by Connect San Diego in 2023. He is also a valued member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of HIV Medicine and the National Medical Association.
Prior to his current position, Dr. Lewis began his medical career as an assistant professor of medicine with McGovern Medical School in 1996 and served as the director of drug development for Tanox, Inc. in 2004. Following this time, he functioned as the medical director of Genentech Inc. in 2007 and as the vice president and chief medical officer for TaiMed Biologics from 2007 until 2018. During this time, he also served as the chief medical officer of the St Hope Foundation from 2002 until 2015. He continued his career as a chief medical officer for Diabetes Relief in 2016 and for Ansun Biopharma, Inc. in 2018.
Likewise committed to civic advocacy, Dr. Lewis lends his expertise to the scientific advisory boards of FirmTech, Trend Tek and GATC Health as well as to the medical advisory board for First Americans Health. He also is a managing partner of GET IN, LLC, the founder and chairman for Health First Ventures, part of the board of directors for the Grace Austin Foundation and a member of the board of advisors for Life Science Cares. Additionally, he has been a key member of the board of advisors for Life Science Cares San Diego, an organization that aims to unite the life science community and provide resources to help reduce the impact of poverty in the San Diego community, since 2022. Added to these charitable efforts, he is a co-founder of the Catalyzing Access to Research and Equity Representation (CARER) group, which is focused on improving diversity in the life science industry and clinical trials.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey in medicine, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in biology from The University of Texas at Austin in 1989 and a Doctor of Medicine in internal medicine from McGovern Medical School in 1994. Following these achievements, he completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 1997 and later gained a Master of Public Health in health services administration there in 2008. Well-qualified in his profession, he holds a Texas State medical license, a certificate of business administration in health care administration and management from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, and he is Adjunct Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge.
Within the coming years, Dr. Lewis intends to develop a targeted oncolytic peptide platform for the treatment of multiple types of cancer. He and his team are also crafting a blueprint for how they can approach cancer differently, including in a more safe and humane manner without sacrificing efficacy.
