Well regarded for his expertise as a hospitality executive, Mr. Wurm lends 25 years of experience to his role as Vice President of Commercial, Premium Brands, for IHG Hotels & Resorts. Since re-joining the company in 2019 as Head of Commercial CMH and Luxury, he has led a team that is charged with supporting four premium hotel brands, helping to drive the hotels' performance, generate revenue and develop strategies. Prior to re-joining IHG Hotel & Resorts, Mr. Wurm held roles in sales, revenue generation and marketing with Hotel Equities, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. and Trust Hospitality LLC.
Born in Brazil, Mr. Wurm left home at the age of 17 to begin college and work at a hotel in his home country. During his freshman year of college in Brazil, he had a unique opportunity to transfer to Switzerland, where he completed coursework in hotel and restaurant management. In 2000, he obtained a bachelor's degree in Hotel, Motel and Restaurant Management from Washington State University's Global Campus. He has since continuously developed his leadership skillset further through several trainings and graduating from Leadership Atlanta program as well as earning a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate from the University of South Florida's Corporate Training and Professional Education division.
Long dedicated to civic advocacy, Mr. Wurm is a board member and development committee chair of HOPE Atlanta, an organization dedicated to fighting homelessness and food insecurity. Additionally, he serves on IHG Hotels & Resorts' Americas Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion board and is a former Advisory Council Customer Experience member at the George Washington University School of Business.
Mr. Wurm attributes his success to determination, the teams and mentors he had exposure to throughout his career, as well as his passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion. Though his professional journey has been filled with memorable moments, he is particularly proud of his recognition as one of the 2020 Top 25 Extraordinary Minds in Hospitality Sales, Marketing, and Revenue Optimization by The Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International, as well as his designation as one of 100 Senior Executives on the Yahoo Finance Empower Role Model List for 2022.
On a personal level, Mr. Wurm is proud that he has been sober for eight years, a journey that was motivated by his desire to be the best husband and father he can be to his wife, Laura, and their 12-year-old daughter. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, grilling, and watching F1.
