With more than three decades of excellence in athletic coaching and psychological rehabilitation, Mr. Miller has earned distinction as an emotional regulator and victim's advocate for the Shoshone County Crisis and Resource Center. Since 2018, he has focused his efforts on collaborating with local schools to develop a program called "Expectations to Work With At-Risk Kids" that aims to help children learn to communicate in a more effective manner and build the skills they need for academic success. He primarily works with victims of domestic violence to help them handle their emotions. Additionally, he has been a high school and middle school wrestling coach for Kellogg High School since 2010.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Miller began his career as the head wrestling coach and instructor for the physical education department of Campbell University in 1990 and became the head wrestling coach for Syracuse University in 1998. Following this period, he served as the director of wrestling and head men's and women's coach for Pacific University in 2002 until taking a role as a PSR with ACES Community Services in 2009. He subsequently functioned as a case manager and peer support for Sequel Youth and Family Services in 2017 for a year.
To prepare for his professional journey, Mr. Miller earned a Bachelor of Science in adapted physical education from Eastern Washington University in 1989 and a Master of Education in athletic administration from Springfield College in 1990. Following these achievements, he worked one year toward a doctorate in education leadership and sports management from Washington State University. Well-qualified in his field, he is certified in anger management and as a psychological rehabilitation provider, among other credentials.
Among his professional accomplishments, Mr. Miller has received numerous Coach of the Year awards and was named Women's Coach of the Year by the National College Wrestling Association. Exercising his creative side, he is also proud to have authored two books, "Rebecca" in 2020 and "Chance of Precipitation" in 2021.
