With nearly 25 years of experience to her credit in the elite worlds of international opera and chamber music, Ms. Palmour has also found success as a leader in higher education, in serving as the director of opera and musical theater for various organizations, and finally has found success taking the role of CEO and Artistic Director for Three Oaks Opera Inc.
The world of opera took Ms. Palmour to 36 different American opera companies. For many seasons she was a leading lady at Washington National Opera, which she considers to be her opera house "home." She credits much of her success to OPERA America which was newly founded her first season in Washington D.C. The coincidence of the national convention convening in Washington in tandem with one of her debut roles garnered Ms. Palmour a sterling New York Times review which launched her career to new heights. That, along with an opportunity to cover a role at the Metropolitan Opera in NYC all but assured her operatic success.
Her singing eventually took her to the Hong Kong Arts Center; Opéra de Nice, France; Utrecht, Netherlands with the Katholieke Radio Omroep (KRO); and Calgary and Montreal Operas in Canada. As a leader in higher education she was engaged at nine different universities and institutes including the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, Baylor University, and the AIMS Institute in Graz, Austria. Additionally, she gave masterclasses in China at Linfen and Sichuan Universities, Western Australia Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) in Australia, Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPA) in Indonesia, and several in the U.S.
She served as the Music Theater and Opera Director of the Philadelphia International Music Festival in 2018 and 2019, and is the current Founding CEO and Artistic Director of Three Oaks Opera Inc., an innovative opera company that uses local resources and musicians to produce opera all over the world.
Current activity with Three Oaks Opera Inc. has seen Ms. Palmour produce Amahl and the Night Visitors, by Gian Carlo Menotti in December of 2021 in Philadelphia, filling all three roles of producer, director, and singer of a major role with her Three Oaks Opera Inc. company. On the horizon is a concert in NYC of favorite operatic duets with Russian bass, Mikhail Krutikov. And in a further blending of her talents, Ms. Palmour has written The Bear Who Left Wall Street; a book for children of all ages that introduces the concept of the Bear and the Bull of Wall Street. In production are the book and video where you can hear Ms. Palmour's own narration with newly composed music of a bassoon playing the Bear. The interactive video will take children to the actual streets of New York where they can see the buildings of Wall Street and the statue of the Bull. The book is from a series written by Ms. Palmour called Do You Know About......? and includes seven books on subjects as far flung as The Bear Who Left Wall Street, The Cub Who Found the W (Chicago Cubs), Mr. Rat Who Visits the Kitchen, The Viola Who Waited, and more.
