With almost two decades of excellence in veterinary medicine to her credit, Dr. Turowski has earned distinction as the Regional Medical Director for Callanan Veterinary Group. Since entering this role in 2023, she has focused her efforts on training her less-experienced associates in surgical techniques and other aspects of clinical veterinary medicine. She also handles several business duties for the clinic, including recruitment of other veterinarians for the company, marketing, and overseeing the daily finances for the business. Additionally, she is a valued member of the Veterinary Association of the North Shore, the Massachusetts Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Veterinary Medical Association. A trained SCUBA diver, she also lends her expertise as an assistant dive volunteer with the New England Aquarium in Boston, Massachusetts.
Prior to her current role, Dr. Turowski began her career as a veterinary assistant with Hull Veterinary Hospital in 2003 and was a student research assistant for The Ohio State University's laboratory animal resources unit in 2004. From 2004 to 2008, she served as a veterinary assistant for MedVet Medical and Cancer Centers for Pets until being awarded the Cass Fellowship with The Ohio State University's laboratory animal resources unit in 2008. She joined the ISG team in the database division of the Veterinary Information Network as a keyword indexer in 2010 and started her clinical career as an associate veterinarian for the Animal Hospital of Lynnfield in 2015. Later that year, she served in a similar capacity for Northeast Veterinary Hospital until becoming a staff veterinarian in general medicine for MSPCA-Angell in 2019. Dr. Turowski continued her career as the medical director of MSPCA-Angell's Angell at Essex, becoming the medical director of Bond Vet Somerville in 2022.
Among her professional accomplishments, Dr. Turowski is proud to have had the opportunity to open Angell at Essex, a clinic at a vocational technical high school in Danvers, Massachusetts, while working with MSPCA-Angell. Through this program, she was able to help three classes of high school students graduate from the program with Certified Veterinary Assistant credentials and pet first aid and CPR training, ensuring those students were prepared to enter the field or pursue higher education in veterinary medicine.
Having been passionate about medicine and the bond between people and their pets since her youth, Dr. Turowski earned a Bachelor of Science in biological engineering in 2006 and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2010, both from The Ohio State University. Following these achievements, she completed graduate-level classes in biological engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Division of Comparative Medicine there in 2014. Within the coming years, Dr. Turowski intends to continue mentoring younger veterinarians, demonstrating that veterinary medicine is a sustainable career path if they maintain proper boundaries and have access to training and mentorship.
