In conjunction with his work, he dedicates himself to his community through the Military Family Research Institute at Purdue University and Ebenezer United Methodist Church, through which he is a youth leader and praise band musician.
An expert in his field, Mr. Douglas holds a bachelor's degree in communications, radio, television, and digital communications from the University of Maryland, a diploma in military science from Marine Corps University, and an MBA in management from Touro University. Due to his vast breadth of knowledge, Mr. Douglas has contributed to several reports, including "Defense Strategy for Suicide Prevention" and "An Achievable Vision: Report of the Department of Defense Task Force on Mental Health." In light of his professional achievements, he was honored with multiple Meritorious Service Medals by the President of the United States in 1999, 2001, 2005, and 2007. Throughout his career, he has also won the Joint Service Commendation Medal from the Secretary of Defense, the Commander's Award through the Armed Forces Recreation Society, and the Meritorious Civilian Service Award from the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations, Fleet Readiness, and Logistics. While his career has been filled with highlights, he takes the most pride in expanding upon the Navy's expedition medical ship program and contributing to the mental health task force just before his retirement.
