With several years of excellence in advocating on behalf of his clients as well as serving his country, Mr. Slaugenhaupt has earned distinction as a Special Victims' Counsel and Captain in the Judge Advocate General's Corps of the United States Army. Having joined as a legal services and claims attorney, since 2022 he has focused his efforts on cases involving sexual assault and domestic violence. After completing the Judge Advocate Officer Basic Course with a Superior Academic Achievement, he was asked to do legal assistance work involving estate planning, divorces and spousal support, and military investigations of servicemembers. Additionally, he is a valued member of the valued member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the American Bar Association, as well as a member of the Order of the Coif and the Order of the Barristers.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Slaugenhaupt began his career as a marketing and content manager for CMA Global Partners for German foods at the Specialty Food Association, Inc. in 2016. He started his work in law as a legal intern for the criminal division of the United States Attorneys' Offices in 2019 and was a law clerk for the FHAS in 2020. The same year, he underwent a fellowship at the Pro Bono Center of the Allegheny County Bar Foundation. During this period, he also was a staff editor for the University of Pittsburgh Law Review in 2019 and was promoted to a senior topics editor in 2020. As part of this role, he authored "Resolving Division Among the U.S. Courts of Appeals: What Constitutes a Physical Restraint?" which was featured in the publication in 2021.
While developing his professional journey, Mr. Slaugenhaupt earned a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University's Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service in 2018 and attained a Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, graduating with honors in 2021. While at the latter institution, he was a student of the university's securities arbitration clinic, serving as a certified legal intern there in 2020.
