Attributing more than 15 years to his career in education, Mr. Zipser was acquired by Phoenix Union High School District in 2020, which is recognized as part of one of the largest school districts in the country. He currently teaches high school seniors Social Studies, U.S. Government, and Economics. He is also an instructional leader and Social Studies department chair.
Mr. Zipser formerly taught AP World History, World History, and Government at Scottsdale Unified School District in Scottsdale, Arizona, from 2017 to 2020. He was also an instructional designer of doctoral programs at the University of Phoenix, a social studies teacher at Saint Thomas the Apostle in Phoenix, a social studies, literature, and writing teacher at Sacred Heart Nativity School in San Jose, California, and a social studies teacher at Madison Meadows Middle School and Bourgade Catholic High School in Phoenix.
A tremendous honor to teach and serve as a mentor to his students, Mr. Zipser draws a sense of satisfaction from encouraging them to seek and work to their fullest potential. Looking toward the future, he aims to pursue a doctorate and eventually transition into administration.
Enthusiastic about civic and nonprofit work, Mr. Zipser served on the board of directors at Helping Families in Need from 2014 to 2016 and as a prison ministry volunteer at the Roman Catholic Diocese of Phoenix between 2018 and 2020. He also spent many years coaching soccer and baseball programs. Mr. Zipser has remained active as a council member of his church parish's Knights of Columbus since 2016, and a lector at daily Mass.
Mr. Zipser graduated from Northern Arizona University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in history and secondary education. He remains a member of Phi Alpha Theta. Continuing his studies, he received a Master's Degree in educational administration from Santa Clara University in 2012.
As a testament to his hard work and dedication in the classroom, Mr. Zipser received the Social Justice Award from Brophy College Preparatory, the Xavier College Preparatory Golden Gator Award for Excellence in Teaching for 2013-2014, was named as the Teacher of the Month by Arcadia News in 2014, received an Outstanding Teacher of American History Award from the Daughters of the American Revolution in 2020 for teaching civics and defending the Constitution of America, and was honored with the LAEA (Linda Abril Educational Academy) Student Choice Award in 2021.
