Drawing on over four decades of expertise in the pharmaceutical industry, Dr. Krishnan specialized in organic synthesis, and route scouting and development. Before his retirement in 2022, he found much success as the director of chemistry at Adipogen Life Sciences. In this capacity, he was responsible for leadership in process chemistry research and development, industrial and technical project management, manufacturing practices compliance requirements, overseeing laboratory functions and operations, and analyzing and assessing the purity and the biochemical composition of drug products. Prior to this role, Dr. Krishnan served as a senior process scientist at STA Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. from 2017 to 2019.
Dr. Krishnan initially began his career working as a senior research chemist at DuPont from 1978 until 1986. Following this post, he was active as an assistant principal scientist at Pharm-Eco Laboratories from 1988 to 1992, while concurrently serving as a senior scientist at Molecular Biosystems between 1991 and 1995. He continued his vocation as a chemistry specialist at GenCorp Aerojet from 1995 to 1996, followed by a role of a laboratory director at Seres Laboratories and an associate director at Cardinal Health from 1996 until 2004. Between 2004 and 2011, he contributed to Arena Pharmaceuticals Ltd., which was acquired by Pfizer Inc., as a manager of chemical development, a senior scientist and an associate fellow. Subsequently, Dr. Krishnan garnered expertise at various organizations in a variety of roles, including a principal investigator at Neurocrine Biosciences Inc., a contract scientist at Rempex Pharmaceuticals and a project manager at the Bioserv Corporation.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Krishnan pursued an education at the University of Madras in India, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in chemistry, followed by a Master of Science in chemistry, physics and mathematics. He obtained a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Madras and was a recipient of a gold medal for best Ph.D. thesis for the year 1974 in organic chemistry from the University of Madras. He continued his academic efforts at Washington University in St. Louis, as a post-doctoral researcher in organic chemistry in 1978.. As a commitment to his field, he has been active with several industry-related organizations, including the American Chemical Society, the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Synthetic Organic Chemical Manufacturers Association. Likewise dedicated to civic advocacy, Dr. Krishnan contributes to various charities and societies in India and Southern California.
Well-regarded for his contributions to the field, Dr. Krishnan has received multiple awards, including a Certificate of Appreciation from DuPont, a Recognition of Contributions from Washington University in St. Louis and a Recognition of Innovative Contributions from Arena Pharmaceuticals Ltd., to only name a few.
