Mr. Nathe is a retired environmental engineer who served 42 years in Federal Civil Service. He spent 7 years at Edwards Air Force Base (California) doing groundwater and soil contamination cleanup on US Air Force and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) administered land. He also spent the 21 previous years at Vandenberg Air Force Base (California) doing the same as above, plus administering an 800 head cow/calf operation, executing innovative environmentally friendly grazing systems resulting in the restoration of threatened and endangered species habitat by reducing and eliminating invasive non-native species (using livestock grazing as the tool). The 800 head grazing permit was held by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, US Department of Justice. Other duties at Vandenberg AFB also included training Navy SEALs from SEAL Team 5 to ride and pack horses, resulting in horseback Special Forces in Afghanistan. Mr. Nathe also spent 14 years in the US Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management setting up grazing systems, species composition surveys, fighting fires (Crew Boss and Strike Team Leader) on over 50 wild fires, and in addition administered the wildlife and fisheries, law enforcement, soil and water programs on Ranger Districts on the Wasatch-Cache (Wyoming and Utah) and Payette (Idaho) National Forests (US Department of Agriculture), and the Elko (Nevada) BLM District (US Department of Interior).
Mr. Nathe earned a Bachelor of Science in Rangeland Management from Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana. He received three Certificates of Merit from the US Forest Service, Department of Justice Federal Bureau of Prisons Outstanding Performance Award, Exemplary Civilian Service Award from the US Air Force, and the Outstanding Civilian Career Service Award from the US Air Force.
