Dr. Esquilin is recognized for her success as a Student Success coach and now Director of the Center for Academic Excellence at Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida, since 2021. Involved in the academic setting for more than 20 years, she has thrived as faculty, department chair and registrar at City College Casselberry from 2001 to 2006, as a registrar and bursar at Southern Technical College between 2008 and 2014, and as a bursar at Keiser University from 2015 to 2021.
Aside from her work in academia, Dr. Esquilin has distinguished herself as a speaker and author, having released two books in Spanish, "Smiling through the Fog of Life: Principles of Life That Help You Succeed" in 2019 and "One Day at a Time: Regain the North of your Marriage" with her husband Dr. Alexander Rúa in 2023. She has also found success as a certified life and marriage coach since 2018 respectively.
Dr. Esquilin finds constant inspiration in serving others. She aims to continue expanding her ministry, DLC Consultants Inc, a nonprofit organization focused on the stability and growth of engaged and married couples. Through their Facebook program "Marriage Mentoring 101 with Alex and Dorily," they continue to provide biblical principles and practical tools to men and women to help them connect in their marriage relationship, thus helping to reduce the high incident of divorce nationwide.
Dr. Esquilin graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Minor in Spanish Literature from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1999, followed by a Master of Arts in Christian Counseling and a Doctor of Ministry from Mizpa Christian University in 2006 and 2007, respectively. She also garnered a Master of Education in Higher Education with a Post-Master's certification in Enrollment Management and a Doctor of Philosophy in Education with specialization in Leadership in Higher Education from Capella University in 2010 and 2018, respectively. Additional educational pursuits to Dr. Esquilin's credit include certifications as a Christian Life Coaching and Mental Health coach through Light University and as a certified Marriage Coach through InterAmerican University of Puerto Rico. She currently received a Chaplaincy Doctoral degree with specialization in Clinical Pastoral Counseling from the International Academy of Chaplaincy. In her spare time, Dr. Esquilin continues to pursue knowledge and tools to serve effectively. She is currently pursuing doctoral degrees in Christian Counseling, Ministerial Theology and Biblical Interpretation and James Dobson's Family and Marriage coaching certification. She considers herself a lifetime learner.
Remaining a figure in her professional community through memberships with several prominent industry organizations, Dr. Esquilin is presently a presidential member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. She is also a member of the International Christian Coaching Association and the International Board of Christian Care.
