Mr. Foss is a technology services executive celebrating more than 35 years of distinction in his field. He is currently a Senior Client Partner for Kyndryl Inc., the world's largest Information Technology services provider, following his retirement from IBM Corporation after 33 years of distinguished service as an engineer, manager, and IT account executive. For the last twenty years, Mr. Foss has been asked to lead some of Kyndryl's and IBM's largest strategic accounts, across various industries, enabling multi-disciplined teams to help customers realize the value of the partnership by delivering business benefits via execution of large, complex digital transformations.
Before entering the technology industry, Mr. Foss studied at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, graduating in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Mechanics. He began his professional career as an engineer for IBM, where he would remain until 1993, when he departed the company to take on multiple executive roles at Conner Peripherals, an early industry leader in high-performance disk drive hardware. After overseeing Program Management, New Products Launch, and Corporate Procurement for Conner Peripherals, he spent the next two years as an Executive Director at a startup company, JTS Corporation, helping the firm to go public while bringing six new products to market yielding revenues of over $50M during his tenure.
In 1997, Mr. Foss returned to IBM to set up, operationalize, and manage a new OEM technology project office within the company's Storage Technology Division that successfully yielded $850M of revenue within its first three years of operation. His success in managing large, complex programs was noticed by the IBM Project Management Center of Excellence, and he was recruited in 2001 as Project Management Method Initiative Leader, where he successfully deployed globally a new Worldwide Project Management Methodology and set business maturity standards for PM method usage across all of IBM's brands and services divisions. In 2003, Mr. Foss transitioned into IBM's Global Technology Services division, where he continued to grow his industry knowledge, client-facing skills, and organizational effectiveness capabilities in multiple leadership positions, including roles as Senior Global Project Executive and Base Growth Client Solutions Executive. Mr. Foss continued as a services leader within the Industrial Sector until retiring from IBM in 2021 and taking on his current role as Senior Client Partner within Kyndryl. During his tenure at IBM, Mr. Foss authored and published two engineering technical reports, was recognized with an Outstanding Technical Achievement Award, and earned numerous company accolades for his work, including a "Best of IBM" award in 2015, recognizing him as one of the top 500 employees within a company of more than 400,000 staff worldwide.
Mr. Foss is grateful for God's blessings in his life, especially the love and support of his amazing wife, Pamela, along with their family, and his many friends, coworkers, and clients. As a lifelong learner, he continues to develop his personal skills while pursuing his passion to mentor and grow capabilities within others, while creating cohesive, high-performing teams. Mr. Foss gives back to his community as an ordained deacon with a passion for serving communion. He continues to be a soccer enthusiast after having volunteered as coach of his grandson's soccer team for over seven years.
