A seasoned business executive with four and a half decades of industry expertise to his credit, Mr. Milas presently excels as the president of CM&S, Inc., through which he provides capture planning services for the aerospace and defense industry. Over the years, he has honed his experience in proposal management, strategic planning, and more through executive roles with SM&A, L-3 Communications, Litton Guidance and Controls, and Northrop Grumman Corporation. During earlier stages of his career, Mr. Milas also worked as a special advisor for the U.S. Department of Commerce and as a project and systems engineer with Northrop Grumman.
Outside of his work, Mr. Milas belongs to Real Life Church, through which he has participated in multiple mission trips. Likewise, he is affiliated with the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society and Pi Tau Sigma Mechanical Engineering Honor Society, selected for membership during his undergraduate studies. An expert in his field, he holds a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from California State University, Long Beach. Subsequently, Mr. Milas expanded upon his professional knowledge, earning an MBA in finance from the Drucker School of Management at the Claremont Graduate School and a certificate in engineering management from Caltech.
An example of one of his professional achievements, Mr. Milas was named for having the Number 1 Rated Ad of the Year by Defense News. While his career has been filled with highlights, he takes the most pride in working for Northrop Grumman for 20 years. After starting with the company as a mechanical engineer, he became one of the first engineers without military experience in the company to transition into technical marketing. For his dedication to excellence, he was nominated by Northrop's chief executive officer and chairman to serve as part of the President's Commission on Executive Exchange from 1988-1989 and became a special advisor to the Director General of the United States and Foreign Commercial Service, the U.S. government's head of marketing.
Other standout moments in Mr. Milas' career include attending the White House with 39 other Industry and Government executives to meet George H.W. Bush in 1989, and serving as the marketing director for a program called the Brilliant Anti-Armor Submunition (BAT) with the United States Army during the mid-1990s. Looking ahead, Mr. Milas intends to wind down his work and consider retirement so that he can spend more time traveling with his wife and being a grandfather to their 2-year-old granddaughter.
