Before his present role, Mr. Coyle began his career as a maintenance supervisor for Placer Dome in 1984 and became a mill operations general foreman for Northgate Minerals' Kemess Mine in 2001. During this time, he also served as a mill maintenance general foreman for the Kemess Mine from 2006 until 2008. Following his role with Northgate Minerals, he served as the site superintendent in the same mine for Aurico Gold in 2011, taking a role as the superintendent for Barkerville Gold Mines Ltd in 2018. Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Coyle earned certification as a red seal HD mechanic in mechanical trades from Cariboo College in 1979.
Having written poetry since his youth, Mr. Coyle did not consider pursuing his passion until his youngest son passed away due to heart failure in 2017. Because he is an avid motorcyclist, his family was concerned at the time that the hobby would turn self-destructive and encouraged him to focus his energy on his creative writing. This spurred him to gather his poems and publish them with Tellwell Publishing, giving copies of his first book to each of his 10 grandchildren as a positive legacy. Mr. Coyle is presently considering publishing a fourth book, potentially of more poetry or a narrative of his life story.
