Recognizing his professional achievements, East Central Community College named Mr. Everett the Clinton Alumnus of the Year in 2021.

Mr. Everett recently retired as a human resource consultant and the owner of Jerald P. Everett Consulting. He owned and operated his small business from 2005 to 2021. Throughout his career, he was recognized for his hard work and continued to excel. Having initially spent 34 years as a consultant for the U.S. Social Security Administration, Mr. Everett subsequently served as a contract consultant from 1997 to 2005. Moreover, he had the opportunity to work for the State of Mississippi as the human resources director, which was a huge professional accomplishment.
Aside from his paid positions, Mr. Everett was involved in volunteer work, including helping with golf tournament fundraising events each year between 2003 and 2016 to raise money for scholarships at East Central Community College. He also served as the president of the alum board in 2011. Moreover, Mr. Everett was a mentor at Georgia State University. Mr. Preston aims to continue volunteering throughout his community and as a parishioner at his church.
Highly educated, Mr. Everett achieved an Associate of Arts in liberal arts from East Central Community College in 1964, a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Mississippi State University in 1966, a Master of Science in vocational relocation and community counseling from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1975, and a Master of Science in public administration from Georgia State University in 1977. He also received state personnel board certification.
Recognizing his professional achievements, East Central Community College named Mr. Everett the Clinton Alumnus of the Year in 2021. Among other awards, he received a Certificate of Appreciation for his 10 years of service as the director by the Mississippi Department of Human Services Credit Union, received a Recognition Award for Outstanding Service as a board member of the Educational Employees Credit Union, and a Certificate of Appreciation for Outstanding Service from the Southeast Association of Disability Examiners.
