An accomplished geologist with nearly 20 years of expertise under his belt, Mr. Adu presently serves as the Chief Geologist for Capstone Copper, where he manages the geology department and oversees exploration and mine geology. Previously, he worked as a senior geologist for ASARCO, where he managed the geology department in the areas of geotechnical engineering, exploration, resource modeling, and mine geology. His pivotal role in exploring nearly 980 million metric tons of sulfide ore and implementing effective ore control practices resulted in improved leach ore recovery and extended mine-life.
Over the years, Mr. Adu also served in senior positions with Kinross Gold Corporation, where he maintained responsibility for pit slope, heap leach, tailings, and waste dumps stability monitoring, and Freeport-McMoRan. His expertise extends to a wide range of deposit types, including paleo placer gold, Carlin-type gold, mesothermal lode gold, intrusive-hosted gold, skarns, and porphyry Cu-Mo.
During the early stages of his career, Mr. Adu gained valuable expertise in the field through Newmont Corporation, Barrick Gold Corporation, Rudnic Company, Moydow Mines International, Blue Cross Exploration, and AngloGold Ashanti. Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Mr. Adu aligns himself with several organizations, including the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration, the Society of Economic Geologists, and the American Institute of Professional Geologists.
An expert in his field, Mr. Adu holds a Bachelor of Science in Geological Engineering (first class honors) from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, a Master of Science in Mineral Engineering from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, and an Executive MBA in Finance, Statistical Analysis, and Inference through the Quantic School of Business and Technology. Subsequently, Mr. Adu expanded upon his professional knowledge by becoming a Certified Professional Geologist (CPG) through the American Institute of Professional Geologists.
