Additionally, he is a valued member of the American Meteorological Society since 1982.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Coniglio began his career as a meteorologist with KOLN/KGIN-TELEVISION in 1985 and became the chief meteorologist for WKBT News 8 in 1986. He subsequently served in a similar capacity with WAND TV in 1987 and with KCNC-TV (News 4 Colorado) in 1989, transitioning to a chief meteorologist with KMGH-TV ABC Affiliate Denver McGraw Hill Companies in 1999. Following this time, he was a meteorologist with KUSA-TV, 9NEWS from 2004 until 2020. Throughout his career, he led each media organization to perform better than it had before he arrived, improving each company's weather department with his expertise.
Among his professional accomplishments, Mr. Coniglio's was named "Best of Denver" by Westword and he has won multiple Regional Emmy Awards for Best Weathercaster. He was also honored with a Heartland Emmy Region in 1993 for children's new programming, and in 1994 for best severe weather coverage.
Before embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Coniglio earned a Bachelor of Science in meteorology with minors in psychology and English from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1984. Well-qualified in his field, he holds a broadcast seal of approval and is a certified broadcast meteorologist with the American Meteorological Society. He also earned a Federal Aviation Administration commercial pilot certificate, instrument pilot rating and private pilot certificate.
Within the coming years, Mr. Coniglio intends to grow his business beyond his present area, including traveling internationally. He has a long history with weather and climate-related issues and policies dating back over 35 years and will continue presenting high-quality information about these issues. Also passionate about music, he performs with local music groups and enjoys building his creative skills.
