Since 2023, he has found much success as an Assistant Vice President of Corporate Compliance at Westchester Medical Center. In this capacity, he is responsible for compliance by conducting privacy investigations and handling complaints, along with billing, coding, conflicts of interests, quality care concerns, research compliance and vendor relationship. Prior to this role, he was active as a Privacy Officer and the Director of HIM at the Holyoke Medical Center. He also served as a Senior Compliance Officer, HIPPA Privacy and Security at Nuvance Health.
In addition to his primary vocation, Mr. Dunn serves as an adjunct professor of health information at the Manchester Community College as of 2015, and at Charter Oak State College since 2016. He initially began his career working as an admitting registrar at the Northwell Health Phelps Hospital, followed by a post of a senior billing clerk and a special projects analyst at the Montefiore Medical Center between 2002 and 2004. Subsequently, he garnered expertise as an assistant operations director at Smart Document Solutions LLC from 2006 to 2007, and as a manager of discharge analysis and record completions at the Montefiore Medical Center from 2007 until 2011. Between 2011 and 2020, Mr. Dunn contributed to various institutions in a variety of roles, including as a senior manager of file, circulation and release information at Yale New Haven Health, a privacy officer and the director of HIM at the Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center, and as a corporate director of HIM at Masonicare.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Dunn pursued an education at The State University of New York Stony Brook University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1997. He continued his academic efforts at Iona University, earning a Master of Science in health care administration in 2004. As a commitment to his field, he completed his post-baccalaureate studies in health information management at The University of Toledo in 2010 and was certified as a registered health information administrator (RHIA) in 2012. Additionally, Mr. Dunn has been active with several industry-related organizations, including the American Health Information Management Association, the Connecticut Health Information Management Association, the Health Care Compliance Association and the Connecticut Hospital Association.
Among his career accomplishments, Mr. Dunn is most proud of earning his master's degree in health care administration and the RHIA certification, which contributed to his professional advancement. Reflecting on his achievements, he attributes much of his success to the many supporters in his life, including his late mother, and his two sisters who encouraged him to continually grow academically. Looking toward the future, Mr. Dunn aspires to attain his Health Care Privacy Compliance certification and to pursue his doctorate degree studies.
