Drawing on 50 years of experience in the swimming pool industry, Mr. Shehan is distinguished for his longstanding expertise as president of Shehan Pools. Founded in 1972, the company designs and builds rooftop pools for hotels, with specialties including rock pools, rock waterfalls and specialty pools. His deep knowledge of the field and his outstanding customer focus have earned Mr. Shehan an International CPB Pool Builder of the Year Award and a Pool Association Golden Award, the latter of which he won out of 600 entries.
Growing up, Mr. Shehan was inspired by his father, a contractor with whom he worked throughout his high school and college years. After earning a bachelor's degree in education in 1968, Mr. Shehan was inspired to found Shehan Pools during the long, hot summer of 1972, when his wife asked him to build the family a swimming pool. While he had never been in a pool and didn't even know how to swim, he was inspired by his wife's determination and set out to build the pool, a project that changed his career forever.
As a commitment to his field, Mr. Shehan is active with the Home Builders Association and he was a member of the Boone County Board of Education for 8 years and was appointed to the Boone County Water Board for 13 years. He is a Certified Building Professional (CBP) and holds an electrical contractor license and pilot's license. In his personal life, Mr. Shehan is married with three children — including a teacher, a businessman and a project manager in Egypt — and 11 grandchildren. He enjoys fishing and spending winter months in Fort Myers, FL, and he is a supporter of Kicks 4 Kids. In the coming decade, he looks forward to traveling and helping people in need.
